The recent Under 17 European Championship was held in Cadiz, Spain, from 27th December 2009 to 3rd January 2010. Proof of the Techno 293OD Class becoming more and more popular is the ever-increasing number of participants at these events, with this time-round a near 25% increase on last April's European Championship which had been held in Lacanau, France. 189 contestants took part this time in what was also a qualifying event for the Singapore Youth Olympic Games next summer.
Racing took place under light to medium winds after a difficult start due to an abundance of wind and waves the first few days.
The results of the week's racing saw France take the first place in both the Under 17 Boys & Under 17 Girls racing, whereas in the Under 15 Boys & Under 15 Girls Italy came first.
The Sills twins Saskia and Imogen, who had come first and second at the Techno 293 Worlds in Weymouth last summer, continue their winning streak by taking second and third place in the Under 15.
